I REMEMBER WHEN THE WNBA STARTED AND LIFETIME NETWORK, ESPN, NBA, AND ABC AIRED THE GAMES AND THE HILIAROUS COMMERCIALS. WNBA WAS WELL PROMOTED ON MULTIPLE NETWORKS. ESPN AND OTHER SPORTS SHOWS AIRED MULTIPLE STORIES ON THE WNBA, TEAMS AND PLAYERS. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ATTENDED THE GAMES. PEOPLE KNEW AT LEAST 3 PLAYERS ON EACH TEAM. THEIR MERCHANDISING SALES WERE UP.


TODAY, WNBA? WHAT'S THAT? IT STILL EXSIT?

IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME. THE HOUSTON COMETS FOLDED. THE COMETS WON THE FIRST 4 CHAMPIONSHIPS OF THE WNBA. AT ONE POINT THE MOST POPULAR TEAM IN WNBA WITH THE MOST SOLD OUT GAMES. EVERYBODY ON THE TEAM WAS A STAR INCLUDING THE BENCHWARMERS. THE MOST SOLD JERSEYS ARE THE COMETS.

LIFETIME NO LONGER AIRES WNBA GAMES. ABC AIRES A GAME ONCE IN A BLUE MOON. ESPN AIRES A GAME ONCE A WEEK. THE ONLY TIME SPORTS SHOWS MENTION THE WNBA IS WHEN SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS( I.E. DUIs, I'M GAY ANNOUNCEMENTS AND FIGHTS). ALL THE WELL KNOWN PLAYERS HAVE RETIRED OR ARE NOT SHINING. NO BIG INDIVIDUAL ENDORSEMENT. LOW SCORING GAMES. A LOT OF BRICKS. NO TRICKS. NO DUNKS. THEY GIVE AWAY A LOT OF TICKETS AND PEOPLE STILL DON'T SHOW UP. THEY ARE NOT GENERATING A LOT MONEY.

I can't stress VOTING enough.There's too much going wrong with our government but not a lot of people VOTING. Yes, there was a record breaking turn out for the 2008 Presidential Election, but a less than a quarter of those people VOTED FOR MAJOR, SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT, COMISSIONER, GOVERNOR, JUDGES, SENATORS, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND MANY OTHER IMPORTANT LEADERSHIP POSITIONS. THESE POSITIONS AFFECT OUR DAY TO DAY LIFE AND ASSIST OUR PRESIDENT.

THE REASON FOR OUR GOVERNMENT PROBLEMS is THERE ARE TO MANY BAD APPLES FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF THE GOVERNMENT FOOD CHAIN. THESE BAD POLITICIANS ARE ABLE SNEAK THEIR WAY INTO THE SYSTEM BECAUSE MOST CITIZEN ONLY CARE ABOUT WHO THE is PRESIDENT. THE PRESIDENT HAS VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH SCHOOL SYSTEM, POLICE DEPARTMENT, STATE TAXES, COMMUNITY FUNDING, EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER NON FEDERAL ISSUES.

WE NEED TO RECONSTRUCT OUR GOVERNMENT BY VOTING OUT THE BAD APPLES AND VOTING IN SUPERB POLITICIANS.

We love Michael Jackson, but damn, he's everywhere. All the newspapers, magazines, news, entertainment tv, and blogs are talking about Michael Jackson. People are coming out the wood-work with allegations. $$$$$$ and TV time that's all these people want and the media is giving them what they want, and the Jackson Family is not helping situation by talking to the media. It's crazy they wouldn't say anything when he was alive. Now, they're telling it all. Yes, he's died but his children are alive, and his children don't need to see their father in a negative light.

YOU'RE A JERK has been banging out of the west coast speakers for awhile, but recently hit the mainstream with the support of the internet and 106& Park. Ben J and Legacy, New Boyz ,have the whole world jerkin'. Their youthful, fun, and uniqueness has everyone feeling their swagg. APOLOGIES: DRAKE & TOYA

In a previous post, I stated that Lil' Wayne's performance at the BET Awards was inappropriate. Well, rapper Drake ( who also performed with Lil' Wayne)and Toya (mother of Lil' Wayne's daughter) released public apologies for the performance.

Part of Toya's Statement: "I Antonia ” Toya” Carter have been disturbed but silent about the recent performance that took place at the BET awards, which including my only child Reginae Carter and her friends joining her father Lil Wayne on stage while he performed his new single “Every Girl”...Once again, I do not of any degree think it was a wise decision and I truly do apologize to all that this may offended and most importantly the children that watched this performance. I feel we all have learned a lot from this situation and pray that the viewers will allow these children to move forward with their lives and not held accountable because they are innocent."

Drake offered his apologies through an interview with www.complex.com. "Yeah, it was just timed very poorly and it definitely wasn’t planned like that, but with that being said, it is what is. I believe in Wayne and myself and it’s nothing we can’t bounce back from. To anyone who was offended, my personal apologies, it wasn’t intended to offend anybody.

MOVIE RENTALS

Lately, I've been watching foreign films. Its another way to learn about other cultures. I'm recommending three movies: Crónicas, We Are Together and Memories of Murder. All three are awarding winning.



Crónicas stars John Leguizamo as a star reporter who goes to Ecuador to cover a story of a serial killer who preys on children. He becomes involved in the investigation by promising a man, who is jailed by mistake, an interview to disclose what he heard from the mystery killer. Crónicas is a suspense crime thriller. It's unpredictable and will bring out every emotion. It's a Spanish movie with English subtitiles.

We Are Together(Thina Simunye) is a HBO documentary the chronicals the lives of South African orphans that live in an orphanage called Agape. They use their voices to sing about their joys and sorrows. It's an heart felt documentary that includes appearances by Alicia Keys and Paul Simmon.

Memories of Murder(Salinui chueok) is a Korean film that also has English subtitles. Memories of Murder chronicles the first serial killer of South Korea. Two detectives with two different techniques of solving crimes are forced to work together. Through their partnership brings laughs, anger and tears, while showing South Korean culture of the 80s under military dictatorship.

LAW SUIT: LIL WAYNE OVER SLEEPS

Lil' Wayne slept through a concert in the Bahamas. Now, the promoters are suing Lil' Wayne for almost a half a million dollars for the cost incurred for a Lil' Wayne concert. The cost includes hotel, flights, and a financial advance. This is not Lil' Wayne first time having legal troubles. If you remember, he just recently had drug charges dropped. Many of these blogs are reporting Miss Raven Symone is dating Jurnee Smollett's gay brother, which is FALSE. All these pictures on the internet are of Raven and Jussie Smollett, who is straight, but Jussie's younger brother Jake is supposely gay. You may remember he played Jurnee's brother in Eve's Bayou. Most recently, he played in the television show "The Middleman." Jussie is also an actor. He played in The Might Ducks and the TV movie Queen with Halle Berry.

DIDDY'S ALL WHITE PARTY

Sean "Diddy" Combs throws an all white party in Beverly Hills, California for the 4th of July. The celebrity studded party was all for charity. Diddy hosted the event along with Ashton Kutcher to raise awarness of malaria in Africa for Malaria No More.

R.I.P. STEVE MCNAIR

Steve McNair, NFL quarterback, was found dead in his Nashville,Tennessee condo, July 4th. He was found shot to death along with an unidentified woman. According to CNN, police identified the woman but have yet to release her name and her relation to McNair.

Steve McNair was 36 yrs old, and in his 13 season of the NFL.

MOVIE REVIEWS: My Sister's Keeper

TEAR DROPPER...

My Sister's Keeper is beautifully told story of family dealing a dying child who can possibly be saved by her sister. Cameron Diaz stars as the loving mother who will do anything to keep her daughter alive.Abigail Breslin and Sofia Vassilieva play her daughters. Breslin is no longer the little girl in Little Miss Sunshine. She is all grown up and showing off her acting range. She portrays a strong minded and witty girl, who makes a life or death decision for her sister, played by Vassilieva. Vassilieva plays a dying cancer patient, which is complete opposite of other roles she has played. If you don't remember Vassilieva, your children will. She played the bubbly Eloise in the TV movie Eloise at Plaza and the sequel Eloise at Christmastime. She tells the story of some many that you can't help getting emotionally involved in this film. Well, you can't watch this movie without shedding a tear.

Great Script! Great Directing! Great Poduction! Great Acting!
